The lands preserve a very interesting artistic patrimony to find in small villages such Mutignano, Montepagano, Silvi alta and Atri.
Montepagano, towers above the young town of Roseto preserves some important ancient monuments like the Museum of Material Culture and a collection af ancient coins. Then the visitors can see the Accolle Fountain, recently restored. It connects Montepagano with Roseto, well known for its “Villa Comunale” as well. It contains an important collection of pictures. From the top of the hill where Silvi Alta rises, once a defence garrison against the Saracens, it is possible to enjoy a spectacular sight on the whole central Adriatic. In the town’s historic center stands splendid S.Maria Assunta Cathedral, with some works of Andrea Delitio. He represents the Renaissance Abruzzo’s cycle of paintings. The visitors are advised also to have a look at the crypt containing the remains of S.Maria Vecchia, at the Chapterhouse Museum and the Cloister. Going down to the sea it is the little centre of Mutignano worthy of a visit. Here you can visit the Patron Church of “San Silvestro Papa” that shows, on the inside, a precious altar painted by AndreaDelitio.
