Silvi Marina,
few km far from Pescara, is one of the most famous
places of the Abruzzi, with its typical early
twenties villas and it is also well known for
the production of liquorice. “The Pearl
of Adriatic Cost”, as Silvi marina is known
because of its favourable position between green
hills opening towards the clear sea and the golden
beaches, was soon to reveal its tourist vocation,
even earlier than other well known holiday resorts
in Abruzzo. |

Since the early twenties a number
of top-class hotels were built aiming to well-to-do
customers. Later on came a great number of hotels and
residences, along with the first bathing establishments,
the theatre, the promenade and so on, up to the Silvi
marina of nowdays with its modern hotels, restaurants,
residences and, most of all, its golden beaches, its
sea-front pinewood, its unpolluted water (awarded ther
Blue Flag ). |
